Hi Richard ( Democrat ) Thanks for all the information and useful "links". You certainly do your research ! Seriously, the links were really good. Looks like compulsory purchase is not something to be worried about, whatever side of the fence people are sitting on. A secret ballot is a good idea, but I don't think it will be agreed upon. Also thanks to Thomo over his clarification regarding Trustees, I think most people, especially members, were quite ignorant in this department. But as somebody said previously, how many members read the stuff on this forum ? ( Democrat, please own up to being Richrad Kelly, if you do I will tell you how I know ! ) Matsui

If you choose to hide behind the name matsui that is obviously your choice, your posts are certainly not offensive or derisory. What concerns me is "I will tell you how I know" The fact is you don't know, no big deal really only insofar as how much more do you THINK you know based on what you've ben fed. It really is quite worrying. If you can give me solid reasons supported by reasonable evidence why you know Democrat is either me or Richard Kelly I will give you odds of 10:1 for a stake of your choice up to a maximum stake of £1,000. I say £1,000 that way it won't ruin your life when you're wrong! The only reason you thought it was me or Richard is down to the fact that it's a solid, factual, informative, quality post. You underestimate the intelligence and integrity of several people in and around Ossett Town with your narrow-minded nom-de-plume approach.

they wont agree to a secret ballot tonight, Thomo is the scapegoat for all this nonsense even though he has done nothing wrong, all he has done is the job he was asked to do by the committee. Remember how the unions operated in the 70's, open ballots are a form of intimidation.
There's some vindictive people at the club (hence why some of us operate under false names), they wont be satisfied to just go after Thomo, they will go after any one who does not vote for the proposal.
thomo, watch your step from now on, i know your the sort who has never taken a backward step in life, but i honestly believe these people are paranoid about you, i think they will set their "dirty tricks" department on you. They have driven good people out of the club before, they will do it again.

Thomo, I think you are in for a windfall if ‘matsui’ accepts his wager! I cannot own up to being Richard Kelly as I am not him, as I have said before I am democrat, and I believe that in a member owned organisation every members view is important whether they agree with the executive or not.
There will be some members like ‘Thomo’ who have the necessary skills and confidence to put over their views. Equally there will be other members, who do not have that self confidence and ability to voice their opinions in public.
This lack of self confidence does not mean that their views don’t count, or that they have nothing to contribute.
A responsible executive should recognise this, and should enable these members to at least have their views taken into account when an important decision is to be taken.
The decision you are being asked to take tonight is an important one. It is not out of the way or extreme or subversive to ask for a secret ballot.
Matsui how do you know the call for a secret ballot will not be allowed unless you ask for one, or at least back up someone else who asks for one.
As to how many people read these postings, in many ways that is an irrelevance, the fact is you did, and the postings have made you question things and that is good.
I would hope that because you now realise that there are gaps in your knowledge you can do the research and find out the accurate answers to fill those gaps, wherever they may be.
Hopefully you will have been talking to other full members, and discussing with them the implications of my various postings.
I truly hope that a secret ballot is asked for and that enough full members have the decency and the courage to back the call for one.
It is the only way to ensure a democratic decision has been taken, and to comply with the F.A. guidelines on page 6 of the ‘Governance Guidelines’ that could have been downloaded from the link on my last posting.
I sincerely hope that you have a productive E.G.M. tonight and, what ever the outcome, that true democracy is served.

Yet another good post from " Democrat" Maybe more members are reading the forum, than I thought, as I certainly wasn't until recently. In reply to the qustion about how do I know that a secret ballott won't be allowed. Well of course I don't KNOW that, but I think it's a realistic guess. It was only a harmless banter, Democrat, about you been R Kelly, shame Thommo got a little uptight about it. But, never mind!, But more important, is tonights meeting, and as "Democrat" says, lets hope its productive and fair !

I see the Yorkshire Evening Post has got it wrong….
You are not being asked to vote on the Tesco Offer.
Read the wording of the resolution. Pass this and all you are doing is denying all members the right to be properly informed on the arguments for and against the move.
You can vote against tonight’s resolution, and then at some time in the future if you are ever asked to vote on it, you can vote against the Tesco Offer.
How will you feel in a years time, or two years time if an offer came in from somewhere to build you a purpose built stadium and you couldn’t even discuss it because you voted in favour tonight.
On the other hand the article in the post does make members more aware of what they are denying themselves the right to vote on.
Read the resolution carefully

well, i hope Lord Voaksey doesn't do any reading tonight, it was like that fella off the "Wheeltappers and Shunters club" when Martin was stood there, pint in hand, trying to read his own writing at the last EGM.
