for the benefit of certain members of the committee who like to know these things, here's the prize money for next season's FA Cup.
1st round qualifying = £2,250 2nd round qualifying = £3,750 3rd round qualifying = £5,000 4th round qualifying = £10,000 1st Round proper = £16,000 2nd round proper = £24,000 3rd Round proper = £40,000 4th Round proper = £60,000 5th Round proper = £120,000 6rh round proper = £300,000 semi finals = £900,000 winner = £1,000,000
and if you are wondering why i bothered mentioning the prize money for the later rounds, a certain committee man, who shall remain nameless, was overheard saying, when someone mentioned chelsea playing Colchester in the FA Cup last year, "that could have been us". Yeh, right; we couldn't beat Leamington, never mind colchester, never mind Derby county, never mind sheffield United.

Why oh why oh why? I'd almost forgot about leamington and now it's all come flooding back. Nothing less than the first round proper will erase those painful memories. I'm the ex-committee man who wrongly stated Colchester would get 10 against Leamington. They only managed 9!
