A welcome return to Ingfield this Saturday for reserve team football. This helps the club keep hold of a few of the promising youngsters who are not quite ready for Unibond Premier EVERY fixture.
I haven't heard what the club are doing in terms of admission etc but I know the players welcome all support.
I understand from the Chairman that the reserves reforming may have come a season early than the club would have liked but a vacancy existed in the new set-up so I applaud the decision to take the vacant slot.
Progress should be monitored by how the players develop and improve over the season along with getting first team players back to match fitness following a drop in form, suspension or injury.
It would also be nice if some of the more talented 18-22 year olds in the area with no affinity with Ossett Town come along and try their hand as I'm convinced there's plenty of local talent out there and with the discipline of training twice a week improvement would be there to see.
ATTITUDE- will be the key to how things go both in terms of realistic expectations from everyone at the Club and also the level of committment shown from so-called first teamers when asked to play with the reserves.
It's expected to be a young relatively inexperienced squad for new manager Mark Hanthingy's first game in charge due to unavailability through one reason or the other and it would be great if supporters come along and boost attendance/bar profits... that is the ones who can't make the journey to Burscough!
