to be fair, i'm in a minority of one with regard to Rob O'Brien, i've not heard anyone else criticise him, so may be i'm missing something when i watch him play. Danny Davidson i dont think has regained his confidence after his long lay off, i felt he was not willing to get too close to the Mossley players on Saturday or put pressure on the keeper. Rickers and Daly have left the club. ;D Bennett, by his own admission, has the occasional bad game, not that i'm going to bring a step ladder into the club to tell him what i think of him to his face (big lad is Neil) Back to Rob O'Brien, he might be worried about losing his place in the first team, i hear the reserves had Horbury's answer to Zinadine Zidane playing for them at Guiseley, i didn't quite catch his name, Phil something or other.

Morning gents,
Is Thomo really making a comeback??
What is the age record for a player at Ossett Town he must be close to it. ;D

i doubt anyone has the definitive answer, but i reckon Frank Lloyd must have been the oldest to be playing regularly, i have been told he was 44 when he stopped playing for Ossett Town and became secretary. Maybe someone can ask him if you're going to Marine on Saturday.
I remember John Dungworth (Pete's mate) and Derrick Parker both turning out for Ossett Town when they were both about 40, at the same time reserve team boss John Peachey was playing regularly and he definitely was past 40.
More recently the oldest one i can think of is probably Simon Woodhead, who would have been about 38 or 39.
Going back to Frank, when he was manager of Ossett Town, he had the former Newcastle forward Len White in the side, Len was past 40 as well, he was still playing for a team in the Huddersfield League when he was in his 50's.
No doubt there are others i have forgotten (or never knew about)

Tell you what XED get off your high horse and on the bus to Marine and ask them yourself. A true supporter watches his club through thick and thin HOME AND AWAY. I agree that your entitled to your views for your £7 but Ive always felt that the worse type of supporter is the one who slags players of. It's usually a case of envy wished they'd had the opportunity, skill, but never had. Yes have a laugh ;D at their expense or inability but don't slag them off. Get behind the lads after all the team are playing at their highest ever level. I agree that some players are well paid for the privilege of playing and some are not playing at their best, but if you take time to look @ our goals this season you'll probably find that Rob's quality of crosses from set pieces etc has played a significant part in us climbing to 13th in the table only 6 points of a play off place and who knows a two legged play off at the end of the season but i doubt that you'll be at the away leg. ;D

thank you fiz for that hysterical over reaction you contradicted yourself with one statement, "by all means laugh at the players but don't slag them off". If we're laughing at the players it means we think they are a joke. If we're slagging them off it means we're angry with them. I'm not laughing at any player (others at the club laugh every time we lose, i don't), i'm angry with some of the players, but that anger is because i know they can do better, any team that can beat Blyth 3-1, or win 6-3 at Matlock or win at Hednesford or Guiseley should not be losing to the likes of Ashton and Ossett Albion. I apologise to Rob O'Brien, Danny Davidson and Neil Bennett for any offence my comments have caused and i apologise to Steve Kittrick if those comments have caused any problems within the changing room. What i would say to any player reading this is, most of you are ambitious and want to move to a bigger club (or in the case of Rob or Neil, move back to that higher standard that they have been at before). If you can't cope with the criticism of ONE part time supporter at little old Ossett Town, how are you going to cope with the abuse from supporters of a bigger club? Imagine hundreds of supporters at a club like Halifax or Scarborough jeering and booing at every mistake you make, some of you need to get a thick skin and learn to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye. and if anyone does see Frank Lloyd tomorrow, ask him how old he was when he retired from playing, i'm sure someone told me he was 44. Fiz, enjoy your trip to Liverpool tomorrow, i'll be thinking about you all while i am sat in front of the fire tomorrow afternoon, bottle of lager in my hand, watching the racing. have a wonderful day, a successful and enjoyable weekend and i'll wind you all up again on Monday morning.

A real fan follows the team through thick or thin.
Not at £7 a match I don't.
Many, many other things where my money goes before I think about spending it at football.
I'd love to be there everyweek. I used to be. away games and reserve games too.
Circumstances have changed and football is the one to go. It'll change in a few years I'm sure.
As for old players. Wasn't Wael Nazah about 55?
