Ossett Put The Wind Up Morley - But That's All!
Town entertained the Morley side that beat them 4-2 a fortnight ago and things picked up exactly where they left off. Again the wind was blowing a gale (isn't always at Springmill?) and again Morley soaked up Town pressure only to break with the long ball.
Town had a stronger back four this week but were missing wingers and this told in the result. The final score was 0-1 but Towns effort and possession should have given them all three points never mind even one.
Morleys goal came just before the break. Town had dealt with break but failed to make a strong clearance and the resulting shot from the edge of the box took a wicked deflection to beat Becky Woods in Towns' nets.
Morleys best player was their keeper and she pulled off some stunning saves, but Town failed to get round the full backs so everything she dealt with was straight at her through the middle.
Gemma Howell was outstanding in Ossetts midfield, Sarah Law at right back and Kate Westmoreland up front also both had good games.
Team
Becky Woods, Sarah Law, Emily Stevenson, Toni Lines, Becky Shaw, Keeley Dewhirst, Gemma Howell, Sophie Morrison, Angela Lines, Kate Westmoreland, Jamie Fitton (Amber Scarth 45).

Ossett Town Under 8’s
Ossett Town 3 v Gildersome 2
The Tigers kept their unbeaten run going to an impressive 20 games against a well organised Gildersome side. Both teams started lively in difficult blustery conditions. Ossett took the lead with a well taken goal from Joseph Connolly. Also on the score sheet for the Tigers were Ryan Strafford and Sam Ghomi. Player of the match went to the outstanding centre half Callum Long.
Ossett Town Terriers 0 v 1 Gildersome
The Terriers entertained Gildersome in this closely fought encounter and were unlucky not to come away with a share of the spoils. Gildersome took the lead after half time but Ossett never gave in and showed lots of character and were unlucky not to equalise through Joseph Etherington. Player of the match was shared between Curtis Kaye and James Arnold.

Ossett Town Under 15’s – League Cup
Ossett progressed to the next round of the cup against a well organised Royston team. Ossett dominated for long periods but were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping. Ossett captain Luke Thompson was instrumental in driving his team, leading by example going close on a couple of occasions, Adam Birdsall terrified the Royston defence with his blistering pace and from a Birdsall cross an unfortunate Royston defender under pressure headed into his own net. Jamie Eyles tormented the defence with his amazing skills and was rewarded with a fine strike into the bottom corner leaving the keeper no chance. From the start of the second half the result was never going to be in doubt, Ossett now had the wind behind them and created many chances, Birdsall claimed his seventh of the season after good work from Alex Higgins and Matti Kavanagh, Brad Thompson finished the scoring with two beautifully taken goals, which earned him a share of the REMGOLD player of the match with super skillful Jamie Eyles.
