West Riding Womens Football League Shield
1st Division Town visited Premier Division Silsden with hope in their hearts and left beaten but smiling.
The final score was 9-3 to Silsden but the gulf between these two sides was not as great as the scoreline suggests. Silsden are bigger and stronger than Towns youngsters, but so they should be in their fourth season in the Open Age top division of this league. The bulk of Silsdens goals came on the break and involved their two big strong strikers charging through the middle, Towns centre backs will need much more experience to handle players like this but they did impress in patches.
Town played good football on the floor through midfield and made use of the wings on a wide pitch to show Silsden they wouldn't have it all their own way. Kate Westmoreland got a hat trick (one of which is a candidate for goal of the season) and hit the post twice, she is joint player of the match with Keeley Dewhirst who ran her legs off for 90 mins.
Team
Laura Patterson, Sarah Law, Emily Stevenson, Toni Lines, Becky Shaw, Jody Wray, Keeley Dewhirst, Sophie Morrison, Vicky Saul, Kate Westmoreland, Jamie Fitton (Angela Lines 55).
