Ossett Town U15’s
Mexborough 4 v 5 Ossett Town
Ossett travelled to Mexborough and were involved in a 9 goal thriller. Ossett started well and Brad Thompson put pace man Adam Birdsall clear who slotted the ball past the keeper after 5 mins.
Ossett were stunned by the Mexborough reply with two quick goals after Ossett failed to win crucial tackles in midfield.
Captain Luke Thompson had to leave the field after being caught by a boot in the face which split his chin. Ossett struggled for a while and after missing a couple of chances to get them back in the game they were hit by a carbon copy third goal from Mexborough.
Thompson returned to the field at half time with his team trailing 3-1, this seemed to galvanise Ossett and they went about the hard task in front of them with passion. Matthew Kavanagh was instrumental in the chances created up front and laid on a ball for Jamie Eyles to drive home Ossett’s second.
Sean Lawson beat the offside trap to crash home the equaliser, Lawson then chased a lost cause and was rewarded with a chance from close range which he side footed with his left foot into the net.
Ossett now dominated play and from a corner Brad Thompson was unmarked to score Ossett’s fifth to lead 5-3. Mexborough were by no means beaten and replied after some neat passing to slide the ball in off the post.
A frantic last 5 minutes saw Ossett hold on for a well earned 5-4 win. for and outstanding display of football and two goals for his hard work the REMGOLD player of the match was awarded to Sean Lawson.
Credit must be paid to all involved at Mexborough Main Street for the way they conducted themselves and the compliments that they paid to the Ossett players at the end of an exceptional game, which was a fantastic advert for junior football just showing the talent that is out there.

Ossett Town Under 13’s
“Whitworth lobs Ossett Town into semi final of Millennium Cup” Ossett Town U13's booked their place in the semi final to be played at Leeds United's training ground at Thorp Arch.
Town took on Yorkshire Amateurs in their own back yard and came away with a well earned victory.
Ossett were in good form and a strong defence of Peter Crook, James Askew, Luke Furniss and man of the match Tom Hibbins gave them a good platform.
Bradley Whitworth picked up a long ball in the middle of the park and took one touch and lobbed in straight back over the keeper to give Town a 1-0 lead.
Town continued to battle through Ryan Barker and were awarded a penalty, only for Amateurs in form keeper to pull off a wonderful save.
Ossett pounced on a loose ball and James Bannister scored to make it 2-0 at half time.
Ossett could have scored more if not for a resilient Yorkshire Amateurs team who pulled one back through a bobbling ball past Town's keeper.
