i was in Leeds at dinner time, walking past the Marriott Hotel towards Boar Lane, when i noticed a lot of men wearing orange jackets inside the Marriott reception, on boar Lane itself was a coach with a sign in the front window saying "Wests Tigers Rugby League club", one or two of these fellas wearing orange jackets were nearby, i could hear their Aussie accents so i assumed it was just some minor or junior club having a pre season tour of England.
Curious as to whereabouts in Australia this club are from, i put "Wests Tigers" into the search engine and imagine my dismay when it dawns on me that Wests Tigers are the top side in Australia and they are over here to play Bradford Bulls in the World Club championship.
I used to be quite knowledgable about Aussie RL, they always showed it on ITV i think, back in the 80's, i looked into the history of Wests Tigers, they were formed in 1999 when Western Suburbs joined up with Balmain to form this new club. they play some of their games in the Olympic Stadium.
They play Bradford on Friday night at the Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield. I assume the game will be live on sky sports.

put your money on Bradford to win, i've just seen some of the Wests tigers players coming out of a Greggs shop eating some pasties, so they will be sat on the toilet for most of the next couple of days. ;D

West Tigers is the resultof a merger between Western Supburbs Magpies and Balmain Tigers.
Ellery Hanley and Garry Schoffield played for both clubs during the eighties.
Ausie internationals like Wayne Pearce, Steve Roach, Benny Elias, Paul Sironen and Garry Jack all played for the Tigers.
They certainly aren't any easy beats.
