When are the committee going to get the message, we want you out and new blood in, there are a lot of people who are interested in the club for the football and the social club, but they take a back seat because they know their voices will not be heard. Many more volunteers would come forward if the commttee would do the decent thing and resign, and leave the way open for people who want Ossett Town to move forward.

Mr Hitch has resigned from the junior section of the club- i think he has done the right thing. A letter has also been sent to the opposition football club stating a heart felt apology. Mr Hitch undoubtedly made a big mistake on sunday at the gala and has taken steps to rectify this situation by confirming his resignation. While i personally make no excuses or justification for Mr Hitch's actions at the gala i think the stance he has taken on the matter since has been most commendable. The comments regarding the damage done to Ossett Town Juniors' reputation is laughable- Ossett Town Juniors has a reputation built on 'win at all costs' and this has been the case for many years- the club's juniors have a reputation for wanting to win as many trophies as possible and forget all the other issues (how many of these successful young junior teams are predominantly made up of young lads from Ossett? not many!!) back in the good ole days when local junior teams were exactly that- local teams- the concept was to bring football to ANY young lad (or girl for that matter) who wanted to play football, keep fit and have fun . how times have sadly changed! i remember Mr Asbury once showing a mother (of a player who wasn't getting picked) the trophy cabinet and, i quote, "that's what football's all about love- them! (the trophies)". i remember being disgusted at the time but that just about sums up the junior section in my opinion. some would say that winning is, indeed, everything- not at f**cking 7,8,9, 10, 11, and 12 years old it isn't- anybody who thinks it is should have a very long hard look at themself. whilst we're on the matter of the Mr Hitch lynch mob (i won't quote myself here because, to be honest i really cannot do with the hassle) i know (apologies, I THINK) that many a rule is bent in Ossett Town Juniors' favour regarding various items. what nobody seems to get clear is junior football is about fun. nothing else. it gets serious when the players are about 15 or 16 years old and i think it becomes fully justified at that age to want to be a successful team. i personally think that any person who thinks an 8 year old who turns up for football training every week should only get a 5 minute run-out once a month in a game simply because he might have two left feet is sick, twisted and should no more be allowed near a junior football team than a predatory paedophile. strong words but i believe in them. stop being so arrogant and see the beautiful game for what it is. regards, Tats

Last time i checked there wasn't a trophy cabinet in the club!!!!! I personally think your been a bit harsh there. I am also sure that you are wrong in your opinion of the junior set up, sure they want to win but so do most teams and players are not made to feel the way you are inclining. What makes me laugh is that your opinion of the junior set up seems to have developed since one of your pals did something that was to be fair his own doing. Therefore would your opinion still be the same if Mr Hitch continued as Vice Chairman and sundays events had not happened!!!!

i think Tats jr makes some valid points about the general attitude of parents and managers of junior teams. Some of them do have this "win at all costs" attitude, which can be detrimental to the kids in those teams. I don't suppose this is possible but it would be interesting to find out how many lads give up football when they get to 16, 17 or 18 because they no longer enjoy playing. A lot of lads seem to play 3 or 4 games a week and these days some teams seem to play every weekend during the summer in tournaments. Some lads must get sick to the back teeth of playing football, travelling all over Yorkshire, getting shouted at by pushy parents and managers, training, sitting in decrepit old clubhouses while their parents have a pint or three and doing this every week of the year, year after year. No wonder some of them go mad when they get to their late teens and spend most of their time in pubs and night clubs and what not.
What Hitchy did was out of order, but there's other junior managers, past and present, if they were honest, would say "yes, i might have done the same". I heard one story this season that a manager, after his team had lost to a team in North Yorkshire, travelled back up there the following day, measured the goal posts, found they were slightly smaller than the official measurements, and put an official complaint in to the West Riding to get the result changed.
I think what you have seen over the last couple of days is a number of people with grudges against Hitchy and his family using this incident as an excuse to slaughter him on this forum.
Which i am quite happy with because they are certainly no friends of mine.

The guy who went back to measure the posts was the same guy who asked the players to throw the game. As for Tats Jnr I'm assuming it is you Paul, first of all what happened to Horatio Nelson that nailed on certainty of yours??? You do indeed make some valid points. I've been involved with Ossett Town long enough to know that there have been issues surrounding junior sides which would make your hair curl . However several of your sweeping statements generalise far too much and are based mainly on hearsay and contradict an earlier post titled the club must unite. We at the Juniors have a code of conduct which, will at times, obviously be broken sad as it seems that's life. The under 16's have just had the most successful season by any junior side in the clubs history the majority of that squad have been with the club since age10 many even earlier. The majority have a WF postcode all but one I think, they have travelled to places like Belgium playing Galas and been split into two equal sides as opposed to an A&B team. At under 14 we had an instance where a player didn't get at least half a game that was the first occasion of such an event, naturally as players develop and mature this reoccurs as this is what tends to happen when only 11 can be on the field at the same time.
I don't know how many junior games you've seen in the last 5 years but I honestly don't think you're posting from an informed position but if you can bring to my attention further instances where rules have been bent as you say we need to know in the hope of projecting an image of higher status than the one you seem to think we are prtraying.
BTW how's the studying going and can we look forward to a cameo performance this Friday evening.

The situation with the juniors has always been the same. The Parents! Some of them go absolutely mental on the side line. What they need to realise is the kids are there for the fun of it, and so should they. And then theres the ones who are in it for them selfs........

We all make mistakes, Paul has resigned - move on. Perhaps, like some clubs, we should ask all parents and coaches to do the FA on-line Soccer Parent course. falearning.thefa.com/docent/bin/docentisapi.dll/lms,EUW0000334,2151/?CMD=LOGIN&file=frameset.jsm It's free and it gives them a level one qualification, but the main thing is it reminds them of what is important.

The unity of a certain top amateur club down Manor Road (Ossett Common Rovers) must seem a long way away.

they know they have won.
All that will happen now is that an AGM will be called in the next few weeks, a proposal will be made to throw out the plans to move to Dewsbury, the majority of members will vote for the proposal and that will be it.
After that, a number of low level reprisals and smear campaigns will be carried out against those of you who have criticised the committee, some of you may feel you have no option but to leave the club. There will be no tears shed for you, in fact there will be an inner glow of satisfaction amongst the hierachy if certain people do leave the club and yes i am referring to Thomo and Kelly, amongst others.
The likes of Hitch, voakes etc are prepared to put up with the name calling on here and elsewhere, because they know that they will win. But they will get their vengeance on you once the members have rubber stamped their victory.
I don't like what they are doing anymore than you do, but i have long since recognised that they need this club a lot more than i do, let them have their way, the rest of us can move on and move elsewhere. There's plenty of other football clubs for those who want football, theres plenty of other pubs for those of us who like a drink. Don't argue with them, just laugh at them.
Ingfield should be renamed Jurassic park, because here, the dinosaurs are still in charge.
